Spring ’12 ready-to-wear DIOR COLLECTION – Paris

Dior Spring ’12 Women’s collection. SPRING AFFAIR!

I am in love with anything 1950’s. The lifestyle, the glamour, the fashion, the beautiful people, the coctails…etc…minus the heavy smoking. My obsession started with Paul Newman and  Elizabeth Taylor in Cat on a hot tin roof, it continued with Grace Kelly and Cary Grant in To catch a thief, and it hasn’t stopped since.

Recently Mad Men the famous TV series, plus the Playboy Club and Pan Am [new tv series this season which I very strongly  praise recommend] have brought more awareness of this glamorous era into the surface. I was so happy to see this look re introduced by famous design houses such as Prada, Nina Ricci and now Dior.

Spring ’12 ready-to-wear NINA RICCI collection – Paris

Nina Ricci women’s  Spring ’12 collection – Paris. RETRO BEAUTIFUL!

What a success for Nina Ricci.

The collection shown for spring was elegant, feminine and  incredibly pretty. High-quality, charming, retro, yet modern dresses were the main focus generating a very light-hearted, playful feeling – I could wear them all! This is the beauty that I was expecting from the French, which was missing so far in the collections shown previously. My expectations for French elegance were met here. Please take a look of my favorites:

BLACK, BLACK, BLACK, BLACK/WHITE, AND MORE BLACK was shown in Anne Demulemeester’s collection in Paris. Sheer, slender, long skirts with sleek fringing and draped long layers. That is the story that was delivered today …and I loved it!

“Goddess” inspired one-shoulder dresses were enough to satisfy my cravings for anything long, fluid, Grecian, feminine, sophisticated and sexy! Extra messy hair topped with wide-brimmed hats created the right look, the right trend, the right styling! Bravo to all! Love it! Love it! Love it!  Take a look:

Enough said! All the photos have spoken. I love this collection – end of story. SG

Spring ’12 women’s ready-to-wear PARIS COLLECTIONS

Spring ’12 ready-to-wear PARIS fashion week!

So far, so boring…personally speaking…

I am still waiting [from the French designers/geniuses] for the feminine, soft, sexy, “goddess appropriate” looks that I have been loving this season. Instead, so far, the French  have shown serious, somber, retro-rigid, in some cases futuristic collections…which I am “liking” but not so much…not my style for now…I may change my views next season, as my moods change. Right now I am feeling good, so, I am looking for vibrant, happy, feminine, outgoing, ultra glamorous looks to match my feelings…There was not much in this “happy” category for me to show you. However, for those of you who are a bit more tolerant and accepting “different views and moods” with more ease, here is what Dries Van Notren, Rochas and Balenciaga have shown:

Will be back soon…I know the French will not disappoint with their next collections…I can’t wait…xoxoS

Spring ’12 ready-to-wear Milan – Salvatore Ferragamo & my ‘love’ Dolce & Gabbana

The Italians delivered again!

OK. Here I am again with you taking a weekend break. Between relaxing, going to the gym , some light shopping and baking oatmeal cookies for a friend, I had no time for a “collections” update. Oh! I watched a fantastic new show called Pan Am and it was love at first sight! I will write about it very soon as I am fascinated with this era, and I loved the clothes! Apologizes for not keeping you up to date with the Italian Collections. Better late than ever! I was hoping to include more highlights featuring other well-known Italian collections, as there were so many others shown, but this is why I liked: Dolce & Gabbana and Salvatore Ferragamo.

As before with other collections that I highlighted for you, I was attracted in both cases with the  beauty of the styles, the sexy, glamorous silhouettes and the  colors. As you can see, sex appeal never goes out of style with Dolce  & Gabbana

More universal glamour  below with Salvatore Ferragamo. Enjoy!

Sping ’12 ready-to-wear Milan – Bottega Veneta

Bottega Veneta Spring ’12 fashion show – Milan

I was waiting for this show with great anticipation. Historically, the  Bottega Veneta collection was  on “my very top favorites” list, and this time it did not disappoint. I was particularly impressed with the long “goddess” silhouettes that were shown with vibrant colors and a certain “air quality” that made all the models wearing them look like they were flowing…ready to fly…like angels…

Spring ’12 ready-to-wear Milan VERSACE

Once upon a time, in Milan, on the catwalk for Spring ’12 there were the Versace fashion “sea goddesses.”

The entire fashion world was waiting with anticipation to see how these “sea goddesses” were dressed. When they appeared they looked beautiful!

See for yourself:

After the show, they all went to the seashore and lived happily ever after!

So many memories from my Versace days came back! I will be back with more  fairy tales very soon.

                                                                                              xoxoS

Note: A new charity is in the works about Classical Education for children and young adults GLOBALLY. I will update you soon! Contact me here for details. [Please see post titled From Aristotle to Alexander a new charity is born.] I am certain that my ex-boss, Mr. Gianni Versace, would have approved with my initiative about creating this charity as I know he loved history and he was inspired [as we all know]. My eight years working with the Versace company and having the privilege to work directly under Mr. Versace at his 5th Avenue Flagship, were such a powerful inspiration! I have the most amazing memories and I value my experience at the Versace company greatly. I am humbled actually that I was part of the “original” Versace fairy tale and I am absolutely certain that my years spend there were the foundation of what I am doing today with my jewelry collection Susanna Galanis Inspired by History and my new charity  Alexander the Great Foundation that I am trying to create.

I wish Mr. Versace’s successors all the best!

Milan fashion week.

There is so much excitement here – and I can’t wait for what  else is coming!

Etro, known for colors and prints and vibrant “entrance making” outfits debuted its  Spring ’12  collection and it did not disappoint in delivering what their customer is expecting.

In my case, I am always interested in the  “goddess inspired” looks and I will make this long story short. Please take a look at my favorite pieces from Etro Spring ’12 show:

Spring ’12 ready-to-wear Milan – Prada, Moschino & Antonio Marras

PRADA the jewel of Milan.

A timeless, classic, elegant, feminine collection was shown again at Prada. Every single outfit was a piece of wearable art! I love the styling and the jewels!

Continuing with a similar feeling focusing on pretty, feminine clothes were the other two collections that I am grouping here: Moschino and Antonio Marras.

See highlights of the three magnificent collections below with Prada personally  being my number one prefere. But, who does not prefer Prada?

At Moschino, the “trend” of beautiful, feminine style offerings continued. Take a look below:
